nib Newcastle Knights NRLW Head Coach Ben Jeffries has confirmed the signing of three NRLW players for his National Rugby League Women’s premiership top 24 squad.
New Zealand International Tiana Davison is set to return to the Club, fresh off back-to-back premiership titles and another test selection for the Kiwi Ferns, where she is set to take the field in the Pacific Championship clash against the Australian Jillaroos on Sunday.
Head Coach Jeffries said Davison’s International and NRLW experience will be vital for the squad, after the Test forward agreed to terms until the end of the 2027 season.
“When we had the chance to bring Tiana back to the Knights, we didn’t hesitate,” said Jeffries.
“Tiana brings so much to our Club both on and off the field.
“She has great qualities, we know her desire to compete and be better on everything will help drive our forward pack to keep evolving.”
After making the decision to change codes and join the Newcastle Knights last year, forward Grace Kukuati has also agreed to another season with the Club.
Head Coach Jeffries said Kukutai has adapted well to the switch from union to league and will take enormous benefit with another off season under her belt.
“We are excited to see Grace’s ongoing progression," said Jeffries.
“Grace has great character and a wonderful work ethic.
“With a full year in our NRLW pathway and the experience of playing a pivotal role in our Harvey Norman team's journey to the Grand Final, we look forward to watching Grace develop further in 2025.
“She understands 2024 was a learning year and a spot in the top 17 NRLW team will be a realistic target for her next year.”
Versatile youngster Joeli Morris enjoyed an outstanding 2024 season, highlighted by being named Harvey Norman Player of the Year and re-signing with the Knights until 2026.
Head Coach Jeffries said Morris has been rewarded with promotion to the Knights NRLW top squad after consistent form this year.
“Joeli had an inspiring season in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership squad," said Jeffries.
“She showed versatility to play in multiple positions, making a significant contribution to help the Harvey Norman team make the Grand Final.
“It’s always pleasing to see another junior progress through our Tarsha Gale pathway into Harvey Norman and eventually earning an NRLW contract.
“Her great character and strong desire to compete has delivered consistent football each week and this contract is a reward for that hard work.”
