All Saints College, Maitland has achieved a remarkable milestone, being crowned the U/15s NSW Schoolboy Champions in the prestigious NRL Schoolboy Trophy competition.
The team’s victory came after a hard-fought final match against Bass Hill Sports High at Gosford, securing their spot as the best U/15s Rugby League team in the state.
Their journey to the top has been a series of impressive victories, with six events and locations showcasing their determination and skill.
The road to the championship began with a local triumph at the U/15s Hunter Premiership Gala Day, held at Raymond Terrace. From there, they advanced to the semi-finals at Baddeley Park in Cessnock before claiming the Hunter Premiership title at McDonald Jones Stadium, home of the Newcastle Knights.
The team then moved on to the U/15s Country Cup Northern Finals in Coffs Harbour, continuing their winning streak.
Then, the next game in their incredible journey was the Country Cup Grand Final in Bathurst, where they faced off against St Edmunds College. After winning the title as the best U'15's Country team, the boys then played the City Cup winners, Bass High Sports High.
Their success is a testament to the dedication of the players, parents and coaches, and it all began in the NRL Newcastle Knights Hunter Premiership, a collaborative event between the Newcastle Knights and NRL Game Development Team.
“Winning the Schoolboy Trophy competition is an outstanding achievement and a testament to all the staff at the school who put in the extra hours on top of their normal workload to provide these type of opportunities," NRL Game Development Officer, Luke Lawrence said.
"For a school from the Hunter region to be crowned champions across NSW in this tier, clearly shows the talent within the region and we hope to see many of these transition into Knights stars in the future”
The All-Saints College team has made their school and community incredibly proud, proving that hard work, teamwork, and resilience lead to greatness.
Team captain, Benji Thompson credited the team for their cohesiveness and how well everyone connected with one another.
