Ultimate Guide: NRLW Round 3 preview

The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side are back at McDonald Jones Stadium this Sunday looking to make it three wins from three to start the season.

Following a come-from-behind win over Canberra last week, the side have built some early momentum in 2024.

The women will kick-off after the men on Sunday to shape-up an exciting day of footy at the home of the Knights.

TEAM NEWS

UPDATE: In one change to the squad, Jacinta Carter joins the interchange bench for Isabella Waterman.

Knights NRLW Head Coach Ben Jeffries named his side on Tuesday.

The side is unchanged from last round's away win over Canberra.

New signing Tenika Willison is named on the extended bench having arrived this week following her time with the New Zealand Rugby Sevens side at the Paris Olympic Games.

For the Dragons, Winger Margot Vella is out with an ankle injury, with Leio Fotu-Mola returning in her place.

Madison Mulhall has been named for interchange forward Sara Sautia who also sustained a foot injury in the loss to the Cowboys.

Other changes see Kasey Reh named to start with Sophie Clancy moving to the bench.

Ella Coster, who is on the comeback from a shoulder injury, is 18th player.

Fresh from winning gold in Paris with New Zealand's rugby sevens team, Tyla King is on the extended bench and could be a late inclusion.

FORM GUIDE

The Knights made it back-to-back wins to start the 2024 season with a comeback win over the Canberra Raiders.

The side defeated the Raiders 26-20 away from home, while have notched 11 straight wins dating back to last season.

They take on the Dragons who were defeated 38-34 by the Cowboys last start.

KEY MATCH-UP 

Jesse Southwell v Raecene McGregor: An exciting battle between the two No.7's this Sunday.

Jesse has had a strong start with her one-on-one defence on song to start the season while she ran for 135 metres and combined one try-assist in the win over the Raiders.

The Knights will be on guard against McGregor who was the 2022 Dally M Medallist.

The Knights are aiming for their 10th consecutive win at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Dragons fullback Teagan Berry has scored six tries in three games at McDonald Jones Stadium.
