Knights defeated by Manly at 4 Pines Park

The nib Newcastle Knights were defeated 44-6 by the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at 4 Pines Park on Sunday afternoon.

Manly scored eight tries to the Knights one to run out winners on their home track.

The Knights will look to respond when they return home next Saturday taking on the Brisbane Broncos.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off at 4 Pines Park in Manly.

5th min - The home side opened the scoring with debutant Jamie Humphreys crossing inside the first five minutes. A shift to the right edge saw Jason Saab break through into the back field before finding the halfback in support.

16th min - Manly doubled their lead following a try to Tom Trbjoveic. The fullback claimed a high ball from a kick to score the Sea Eagles second.

21st min - Saab scored Manly's third after another attacking raid down Manly's right edge.

34th min - The Sea Eagles took a 20-0 lead into the half-time break after a Luke Brooks kick found winger Lehi Hopoate on the left wing, who passed the ball on quickly to Tommy Talau for their fourth of the match.

40th min - The Knights trailed 20-0 at half-time.

42nd min - Reuben Garrick continued the scoring for the home side early in the second half after a Jason Saab line-break.

58th min - Hopoate added Manly's sixth scoring on the left wing.

66th min - Following a midfield break from Luke Brooks, the Sea Eagles shifted the ball to their right edge for Haumole Olakau'atu to score.

72nd min - Tyson Frizell added a late consolation try for the Knights bursting through the Sea Eagles defence.

77th min - Hopoate scored his second of the game following a cut-out pass from Tom Trbojevic.
