The nib Newcastle Knights have extended the National Rugby League playing contract of local young gun Fletcher Sharpe and signed Fijian flyer Laitia Moceidreke to a full time NRL Development contract.
Sharpe, 19, was already contracted with the Knights until 2025. This upgrade will extend the Cessnock Goannas junior until at least the end of 2026, along with an immediate promotion into the Club’s top 30.
nib Newcastle Knights Director of Football Peter Parr said Sharpe has a bright future ahead.
“We believe Fletcher is a long term NRL player in the making and we are delighted he has committed to an extension of his contract," Parr said.
“Fletcher is a home-grown player who has progressed through our Pathways systems, and we are excited for the next phase of his career.”
Moceidreke, 23, joined the Knights mid-season 2023, standing at an imposing 197cms (6 ft 6 in).
With the benefit of his first full Knights NRL off season and Pre-Season trials, nib Newcastle Knights Director of Football Peter Parr believes he has earned this opportunity.
