New beginnings: Fitzgibbon eager to leave on a high note

Having come through the pathways system and spent nine years in the red and blue, nib Newcastle Knights forward Lachlan Fitzgibbon is set to embark on the next chapter of his career.

Before he departs his boyhood Club, he wants to finish on a high and help guide the Knights into a potential playoffs spot

On the the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast, the forward talked about the 2023 season and his recent decision to take up a new journey halfway across the world. Listen on Apple or Spotify.

"One I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and two I've been here all of my career," Fitzgibbon said on the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast.

"The timing just felt right.

"For this year, we're currently sitting just outside the eight, and we've been improving every week.

"It's all starting to click after 22 rounds and winning will hopefully become a habit over the next month of footy.

"It's another big test this weekend against Canberra."

Fitzgibbon spoke about his 114 games at the Knights, reminiscing on some of the high and lows, along with his memorable games and moments.

"The try in my 100th (is a great memory), with all of my friends and family down there (at Leichhardt Oval in Round 2) and it was a hectic game too.

"It was a pretty special day.

"There was a bus of about 30 odd down there."
