Pathways Report: Back-to-back wins for senior outfits

In this week's pathways report, we take a look at the nib Newcastle Knights pathways teams in the Knock-On-Effect NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup competitions.

The two senior men's sides hosted the Parramatta Eels at Cessnock Sportsground on Saturday looking to pick up back-to-back wins.

See how each team fared:

NSW Cup - Knights 35-16 Eels

The Knights NSW Cup side achieved a 19-point win over the Parramatta Eels on Saturday.

The side made it back to back wins with the result after a previous victory against the Sea Eagles.

Dylan Lucas put the Knights on the board first after 17 minutes receiving a well-timed short ball from halfback, Adam Clune.

Parramatta hit back eight minutes later to level the scores before hitting the lead through Zac Cini three minutes later.

NSW Cup: Round 14 Highlights

On the stroke of half-time, Newcastle re-gained the lead when Laitia Moceidreke crossed over in the corner with Clune picking up another try-assist.

Lachlan Miller nailed the goal from the sideline to give the Knights a 12-10 lead at the change of ends.

The red and blue extended their lead eight minutes into the second half after scoring an incredible try which saw two kicks put in before Keanu Wainohu-Kemp climbing high to claim the try.

Newcastle then had two tries in quick succession as Clune scored off his own kick while Moceidreke turned provided for Enari Tuala, to cross for the Knights fifth of the afternoon.

Parramatta scored a late consolation with 15 minutes to play before Lachlan Miller kicked a field goal to seal the result.

Shortly after, Knights fullback David Armstrong put the icing on the cake with the Knights sixth try.

The win was the side's third win of the season ahead of a bye next round.

Jersey Flegg Cup - Knights 26-6 Eels

The Jersey Flegg Cup team also made it back-to-back wins with a 20-point victory over the Eels on Saturday.

The Knights were off to a perfect start when Jermaine McEwen crossed the stripe two minutes into the game.

Luke Pietzner doubled the Knights lead with his first of the game on the 17th minute mark.

Leading 8-0 at half time, Pietzner had his double six minutes into the second half.

Parramatta scored their sole try three minutes after Peitzner's second, however the red and blue would go on with the job.

Jersey Flegg: Round 14 Highlights

Mitch Henderson posted the Knights fourth of the game before Chris Vea'ila confirmed the victory by getting on the scoresheet.

The result puts the side up to 7th on the ladder after 12 games with five wins and seven losses.

The Jersey Flegg Cup team also will serve the bye in the next round.
