Pathways Report: Senior men's sides defeated at Henson Park

In this week's pathways report, we take a look at the nib Newcastle Knights pathways teams in the Knock-On-Effect NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup competitions.

The two senior men's sides headed down to Sydney to take on the Newtown Jets and Cronulla Sharks respectively.

See how each team fared:

NSW Cup - Knights 12-40 Jets

The Knights NSW Cup side were downed by 28 points to the Newtown Jets at Henson Park on Saturday.

The Jets opened up a 22-0 half-time lead with four tries in the opening 40 minutes.

Dane Aukafolau and Adam Clune put Newcastle on the board in the second, but it wasn't enough as the Jets ran in another three tries.

NSW Cup Highlights: Round 12

The Cup side remain in 13th spot on the ladder (1W, 10 L) and will return to the field this Sunday, back at home taking on the Sea Eagles.

Jersey Flegg Cup - Knights 20-26 Sharks

The Knights Jersey Flegg Cup side were defeated by six points to the Sharks at Henson Park on Saturday.

In a back and forth encounter, the Sharks came out on top five tries to four.

The Sharks led 16-6 at half-time with Kyle McCarthy scoring the lone try for the red and blue in the opening stages.

Jersey Flegg: Round 12 Highlights

Newcastle got back to within two points towards the back end of the second half with Oryn Keeley, Kyle McCarthy and Mitch Henderson getting across the stripe.

However, Cronulla would score with eight minutes to play to extend their lead secure the two points.

The Jersey Flegg Cup side sit in 10th spot (3W, 7L) and will also return home to McDonald Jones Stadium this Sunday against the Sea Eagles.
