Tigers v Knights Round 2 NRL Team List

nib Newcastle Knights Head Coach, Adam O'Brien, has named his 22-man squad for our battle against the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.

The winner will take home the coveted Allan McMahon Shield, which is on the line when the two clubs meet for the first time each year.

McMahon was the Knights Inaugural Coach in 1988 and also played 110 games for the Balmain Tigers between 1975 and 1981, along with representing Australia five times during this period.

“Macca” as he was affectionately known was highly respected both on and off the field before passing away at the tender age of 48 in 2003. McMahon set many standards for the fledgling Knights, including the motto “Be the player everyone wants to play with”, which remains true to the club’s value until this day.

Local South Newcastle Junior Lachlan Fitzgibbon will play his 100th NRL and Knights game when he runs out on at the historic ground on Sunday. This milestone is a huge achievement for the popular backrower, especially considering the obstacles he has overcome in the past couple of seasons.

Veteran Maroons Origin centre Dane Gagai returns from a hamstring injury and Jack Johns replaces interchange forward Adam Elliott who suffered a groin injury against the Warriors last week.
