Get to know: Adam Elliott

In the build-up to the 2023 NRL season, we caught up with some of our new and returning players to get to know them a little better.

We sat down with off-season recruit, Adam Elliott, to ask him everything from how he's settling into life in Newcastle, his proudest off-field achievement and what is his favourite film.

The 28-year-old from the south coast of NSW joined from the Canberra Raiders in the off-season.

The forward also spent six years at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and represented the Indigenous All Stars and Country NSW.

Elliott is also engaged to NRLW premiership winner and Co-Captain Millie Boyle with the pair loving life in Newcastle.

Name: Adam Elliott

Position/s: Lock/second-row

Junior Club: Tathra Sea Eagles

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Tathra on the south-coast of NSW.

When did you start playing rugby league?

I started playing when I was six for the Tathra Sea Eagles.

Your journey in the game? Where have you played before?

Grew up and played footy back home and then moved to St Gregory's College, Campbelltown for high school. Played there and then went straight into the Bulldogs system. I played Under 20's, reserve grade and then onto first grade at the Dogs so I had the full apprenticeship. I also had one year at the Canberra Raiders and now I'm here.

How excited are you to finally be here in Newcastle?

Yeah very excited, I can't wait to play for this Club. Got the kit last week, Millie and I have been wearing it around the house. It's been great to meet all of the boys and everyone has come back looking fit.

What are you most looking forward to for the season?

Playing alongside the talent in this team, the likes of Kalyn Ponga, Tyson Frizell, Dane Gagai (we played Indigenous All Stars together). They've always been hard to play against so I'm looking forward to playing alongside them.

Proudest on-field moment?

My brother James led me out at the Bulldogs for Autism round on World Autism Day, that was a moment that was pretty special for me.

Greatest off-field achievement?

Becoming a father and getting engaged.

Not really, love a morning coffee.

Best piece of advice you've received?

Surround yourself with very good people and nothing is ever as good or bad as it seems.

Favourite movie?

Remember the Titans.

Favourite superhero?

The Hulk.

Last book you read?

'The Legacy', it's about the All Blacks.

Any sporting heroes?

Brett Lee, I used to love cricket and was a fast bowler myself. Also, Andrew Ryan, who I live around the corner from now, he was my favourite player and idol growing up, loved him, had posters on my bedroom wall and everything.
