The nib Newcastle Knights have gone down 39-2 to the Parramatta Eels at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In front of just over 25,000 fans for the ANZAC Round clash, the away side ran in six tries and held the Knights out from their try line to hand Newcastle their fifth loss on the bounce.
The Knights got off to a strong start and after the Eels conceded a penalty, Jake Clifford put his side ahead with a penalty kick in front to make it 2-0 early on.
The Eels marched their way downfield and a short ball on the last tackle from Reed Mahoney found Shaun Lane who crashed over to put the visitors ahead.
As the Knights looked to gain back the lead they lost fullback Kalyn Ponga to a HIA after landing awkwardly.
The Eels scored again when Shaun Lane was able to offload to Hayze Perham in the corner. Mitchell Moses converted the try to make it 12-2.
The Knights were boosted by the return of Ponga who passed his HIA however a penalty conceded right in front of the goal gave the Eels an opportunity to go ahead 14-2 courtesy of Moses right before half-time.
The second half didn't start the way the Knights would have hoped when Dylan Brown was allowed space to score.
The Knights conceded another penalty right in front of the posts as Moses extended the Eels lead to 22-2.
Isaiah Papali'i was next to score for the Eels after forcing his way over the try line.
The Eels second-rower grabbed his second try of the afternoon when he was able to shake off a number of tackles to cross over.
Papali'i would have his second soon after before Will Penisini rubber-stamped the result capitalising on a Lee mistake in the in-goal.
The Knights will look to snap their winless run when they take on the Melbourne Storm at home next Sunday.
