The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side have suffered their third defeat on the bounce going down to the Sydney Roosters 28-12 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
A late fightback saw the Knights improve to within six points of the Tricolours, however two late tries sealed the result for the home team.
The match was played as an historic double header before the men's game, the first time in the Club's history.
The Roosters took an early lead in the contest when Brydie Parker opened the scoring in the 7th minute.
Isabelle Kelly improved the scoreline shortly after before Captain, Romy Teitzel, got Newcastle back into the contest.
The fullback stormed over from close range, taking two defenders with her before planting the ball down.
Forward, Ngatokotoru Arakua, was sin-binned on the 32nd minute mark and the Roosters took advantage of the extra-woman advantage.
Brydie Parker scored her second just after the break while Olivia Kernick also made her way over to bolster the Roosters lead.
It was game on when Annetta Nuuausala crashed over on the 51st minute mark to bring the game within six points.
Although, the Roosters ran riot in the closing period scoring two more tries through Keilee Joseph and Jess Sergis to seal the two points.
The Knights will look to earn their first win of the season next round against the Dragons at home to keep their finals hopes alive.
