2021 marked an inconsistent season from the nib Newcastle Knights' SG Ball squad.
But it wasn't without it's shining lights.
The season kicked off with two big wins out of their opening three games, including a 44-6 demolition of the Dragons at Mascot Oval and a 30-24 win over Penrith.
Zane Camroux impressed at five eighth, as he did all season, laying on a number of tries and even crossing himself.
Coming into the under 19s competition following a shortened 2020 campaign, the Knights struggled to match their early season intensity for the remainder of the nine-round season.
It was a number of tight losses that ended up costing the Knights a place in the finals, with heartbreaking losses to Balmain and Souths ultimately proving the difference.
With their season on the line in the final round, the side produced one of their best performances of the season but were held to a 26-all draw with competition heavyweights Canterbury.
With some exciting new talent named in the 2022 Summer Squad, the SG Ball side will be one to keep an eye on come February next year.
