Man of the Match: Ponga and Jones stand out in Sharks win

Well, we're certainly still catching our breath after that one.

In what was a brutal match between the Knights and Sharks at McDonald Jones Stadium, and plenty of our troops managed to stand out.

Here are a few candidates for Man of the Match. Don't forget to have your say and vote below!

Kalyn Ponga

One word: Wow.

KP was at his electrifying best on Friday night, looking dangerous every time he touched the football.

Ponga ran for a massive 157 run metres, scored two tries, made two line breaks, two try assists and clocked two line break assists.

Add in seven tackle breaks and three offloads for good measure.

All that, and Ponga was literally throwing up in back-play with a stomach bug. Incredible stuff.

Brodie Jones

It was a big night for the boys from Cessnock, with fellow-Goanna Brayden Musgrove also starring on debut.

But tonight was all about Brodie Jones.

Thrown on in the fifth minute after Hymel Hunt went down with a hamstring complaint, Jones filled in at centre, saving two certain tries and scoring one himself in an excellent display.

Jones also made 24 tackles, a line break, a line break assist and 86 run metres.

Throw in a major hand in the match-winning try, and you have yourself a five-star game from the Cessnock junior.

Tyson Frizell

This is why we fought so hard to get the Australian Test forward up the M1.

Frizell was outstanding in the forwards, running for 165 metres and making 48 tackles in a huge display.

'Friz' was also responsible for the incredible try assist which saw Ponga claim the match-winning try.

But was he your man of the match? Have your say below!
