The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce Blake Green will remain at the Club for National Rugby League Season 2021.
Green and Canterbury-Bankstown have agreed not to activate a previous signed playing agreement for next year, enabling the experienced playmaker to remain a key part of the Knights playing roster.
Arriving at the Knights from the New Zealand Warriors mid-way through the 2020 season, Green made his presence felt, striking an instant combination with Mitchell Pearce and Kalyn Ponga in wins over the Wests Tigers, Manly and North Queensland.
Green has been working with Knights medical and high performance staff on his recovery from knee surgery, and is on track for a return early in the 2021 season.
nib Newcastle Knights head coach Adam O’Brien says Green’s addition to the 2021 squad will add important leadership, on and off the field.
“Blake was massively influential in the short time he spent with us during 2020 and we could not be happier to welcome him back again for 2021,” O’Brien said.
“His experience is invaluable, he is a natural leader with a brilliant rugby league brain, adding key ingredients to complement our existing roster.
“He will continue to play that role with our young halves and his combination with Mitchell Pearce will only continue to grow.
“We are thrilled to have Blake, Sarah and their kids around our Club for another year.”
