KP splits the Dragons wide open
It was a Mitch Pearce and Kalyn Ponga masterclass on the weekend, the pair again showed sheer brilliance for the entire 80 minutes.
Here’s how the nib Newcastle Knights look after Round 10.
3 - Mitchell Pearce
The captain continues to fire!!
After he topped the power rankings last week, Pearce had another blinder to again snatch top spot just ahead of Kalyn Ponga.
The Knights halfback showcased a dangerous kicking game. He recorded 427 kick metres, added two more try assists to his tally, three line break assists and two tackle breaks.
To top it off, the 30-year-old dived over for the try in the second half and snagged a sneaky field goal minutes before the final whistle.
Pearce puts it on a platter for Glasby
2 - Kalyn Ponga
Speed and that trademark step punished the Dragons.
Ponga left a trail of carnage with two tries (almost a hat-trick but it was disallowed), six conversions, two penalty goals, nine tackle breaks and two line breaks.
It was arguably his best performance of the season.
Ponga: We came out fast and then put our foot on the throat.
1 - David Klemmer
The big man scored the one point this week for his consistently solid performance through the middle.
151 run metres, 44 post contact metres, 12 hit-ups and 100% tackle efficiency.... Need we say more.
Singing it from Mudgee to Newcastle!
