Kalyn Ponga has declared Connor Watson is ready to face St George Illawarra in Mudgee.
Despite suffering a foot injury in last week’s win over the Bulldogs, the nib Newcastle Knights five-eighth is expected to run out this Sunday for Round 10.
Managing plantar fasciitis, Watson is running unassisted.
“It is one of those injuries where, because he’s fully ruptured it, it’s probably a good thing for him,” Ponga explained.
“He’s had it for a while. It’s been bugging it but now it’s ruptured is a good thing.”
According to teammate and housemate Ponga, he expects Watson will be ready to face the Dragons this weekend.
“He’ll be there,” Ponga declared.
KP and his Buzzy Bee
“He’s working on getting back for the game. Obviously, he had that injury but he’s a tough little man. He should be there.”
With Mitchell Pearce hitting his straps and Danny Levi in career best form in recent weeks, the Club’s spine is settled.
With Watson partnering Pearce, everyone knows their role and the team is reaping the benefits.
New attitude in the Knights camp
“We are settled. We’re pretty comfortable and know what our roles are,” he said.
“We have Danny and Pearcey who are playing good footy so for us two we just try to bounce off them and support them.”
