Last week nib Newcastle Knights Director of Football Brian Canavan received an email.
It was from Nathan Towney, the principal of Newcastle High School.
He wanted to praise Mitchell Pearce and David Klemmer for volunteering their time at a presentation evening.
The email reads:
Be The Player: Week 5
Hi BC (Brian Canavan),
Last night we held our inaugural sports presentation night at South Newcastle Leagues Club.
As discussed, Mitchell (Pearce) came along and participated in a Q and A panel discussion with one of my staff members and Claire Dedden a local world champion triathlete.
David (Klemmer) also came along and handed out some awards.
I just wanted to let you know that both Mitchell and David were fantastic role models and ambassadors for the club.
SEASON BREAKDOWN: ASSETS AND ROOM TO IMPROVE
INJURY UPDATE: LATEST ON GRIFFIN ACL RECOVERY
I have multiple emails from parents today praising the boys for taking the time to be there and also praising Mitchell for the messages he gave through the Q and A discussion.
I really appreciate the boys taking the time to be there.
Through the discussion Mitchell talked about the fact that as a squad and as a club they are working towards 'trademarks' which should guide how they want to be portrayed on and off the field.
Both Mitchell and David lived up to that high standard and I wanted to make sure that someone at the club knew that.
Have a great Christmas and I look forward to working with the club, especially (Community Coordinator) Monique (Maguire), as we develop the NRL's best RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan)!!
Thanks,
Nathan Towney
