Kurt Gidley has heaped praise on nib Newcastle Knights backrower Lachlan Fitzgibbon.
The 24-year-old is enjoying a stellar season and the former Knights captain has taken notice.
Impressed not only by his physicality, Gidley said his adaptability to play both sides of the field has been nothing less than remarkable.
"It's been wonderful to see his career develop," Gidley said on Kurt's Call.

"From an Old Boys point of view, he's come through the grades, a local junior which is great to see.
"This year he's been awesome the way he's been running lines, his combination with Kalyn, he's been playing left side, right side.

"He's handled that adjustment really well."
Claiming players' player by a unanimous vote last week, Fitzgibbon topped the tackle count against the Cowboys with 43.

He also scored two tries and made two-line breaks to cap off an incredible performance.

"I've been enjoying his toughness," Gidley said.
"He probably wasn't known for his toughness coming through the grades.
"That's not a criticism. It's not his nature, I suppose. He's not an aggressive player but he's toughness wasn't one of his best attributes, but I've been enjoying his workload and his toughness.
"... he's got a nice balance to his game which his teammates and coaches and fans will be enjoying."
