The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce young forward Pasami Saulo has extended his contract with the Club.
The 19-year-old Maitland Pickers junior, who has been at the Knights for four years and contracted until 2018, has signed a two-year extension until 2020.
“This Club means a lot to me and it feels really good,” smiled Saulo.
“I’ve been here for a while and just knowing I get to stay longer makes me happy.
“It makes my family happy and I just hope I do them all proud.”
The former Australian Schoolboy had a standout 2017, and was promoted from NYC to Reserve Grade on several occasions.
“Pasami is a great young player and he showed us he has a big future ahead of him,” General Manager Football Darren Mooney said.
“He made a strong transition to Reserve Grade this season and we look forward to his continued development.”
Saulo is one of a number of players now getting their first taste of full time pre-season training in preparation for 2018.
“It will be different but I am willing to accept the challenge, do what I can and do my part,” said Saulo.
Saulo, who will still be eligible to play Jersey Flegg (Under 20s) in 2018, has a few goals in mind for the pre-season ahead.
“I want to get fit, get a lot stronger, faster and show them what I can do,” Saulo concluded.
Meanwhile, fellow Jersey Flegg players Brayden Musgrove (centre) and Matt Cooper (fullback) have re-signed with the Club.
Musgrove, who has signed until the end of 2019, and Cooper, signed for 2018, have the opportunity to train with the NRL squad during the pre-season.
In addition, 2017 Australian Schoolboy hooker Luke Huth has extended his contract until 2020, as has front row forward Mat Croker, who captained the Club’s Under 18s this season. Both Huth and Croker were already signed for 2018.
“It is important we continue to develop and retain our best young juniors, and we look forward to working with these young men as they progress through our pathways system,” Mooney added.
