On Monday night down at Dudley Oval there was a hive of action as the Fiji Schoolboys Under 18s squad were welcomed to Newcastle.
It was a Country Rugby League event to launch the Rep Round and stage an international Under 17s game hosted by the nib Newcastle Knights development squad.
A friendly between the two sides saw Newcastle come up with the honours, claiming a resounding 42-12 victory.
The two teams got together at the conclusion of the match, posing for photos and singing hymns as the night finished off with a barbecque hosted by the Dudley junior rugby league football club.
“We would like to thank Country Rugby League and the NRL for the opportunity to host the visiting Fijians as well as Dudley for their wonderful hospitality,” said Knights Elite Pathways Recruitment Manager Troy Pezet.
The Fiji team have been testing their skills against a number of NRL development squads, last week they took on the Canberra Raiders and will meet the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs this Friday.
