This year there’ll be some changes to the nib Newcastle Knights team announcement process.
Originally team announcements were made at 5pm on Tuesday but due to several changes by the NRL, Members and fans will now receive a 21-man squad at 4pm on Tuesday.
The 21-man squad will then be trimmed to 19 players 24 hours before the game and the final 17-man squad will be named one hour prior to kick-off.
It will mean only the players in the original squad of 21 will be eligible to play NRL that week unless a special exemption is granted by the NRL.
It all starts at 4pm today when the Knights will name their Round 1 team to take on the New Zealand Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday.
