Newcastle Knights coach Nathan Brown was happy with the squad following the first training session back from the Christmas break.
"It was our first day back and the will and want was very good but I would say we were a little rusty as you would probably expect," he told the media.
With the Auckland Nines now not far away, Brown admitted the squad will be a mixture of youth and experience that will travel to New Zealand for the two-day tournament.
