A strong contingent of Newcastle Knights featured in the Koori Knockout played in Raymond Terrace during the long weekend.
The 44th annual tournament brought together 90 teams from throughout the state for four days of games held between Friday and Monday.
The tournament was held in Raymond Terrace after the Newcastle Yowies earned hosting rights after taking out the competition last year.
Knights featured in a number of teams in the contest including the Newcastle Yowies, the Cabbage Tree Island Descendants and Walgett Aboriginal Connection.
There were Knights aplenty in the Newcastle Yowies including departing Timana Tahu, Dane Gagai, Jacob Gagai, Jaelen Feeney and Travis Waddell.
The 2013 winners progressed to the semi final match against the Newcastle All Blacks, but were defeated in a high intensity game on the Monday.
Tyrone Roberts also played in the Cabbage Tree Island Descendants who bowed out of the competition after being beaten by tournament winners Walgett on Monday morning.
Noel Underwood who plays with the NSW Cup Knights was a member of the competition winning Walgett Aboriginal Connection who beat the Newcastle All Blacks on Sunday afternoon in the 2014 grand final match.
