Newcastle Knights duo Robbie Rochow and Lachlan Fitzgibbon were both recognised for their academic achievements at an NRL event on Tuesday.

Rochow was named in the NRL-RLPA Academic Team of the Year for the second year running while Fitzgibbon was named in the Holden Cup Academic Team of the Year.

The NRL-RLPA Academic Team of the Year was created in 2011 to honour the work NRL players are doing to prepare themselves for life after football and the game’s commitment to providing further education and work-place training for players.

Both Knights study at the University of Newcastle, Rochow is part way through a Civil Engineering Degree while Fitzgibbon is studying a Bachelor of Construction Management.
