The Knights were welcomed warmly to Auckland this week by one of the team’s most passionate New Zealand based supporters.

Each trip to Auckland, the players knows they will see Pauly and he will be at the hotel proudly offering his tactics on how to beat the opposition.

It was no different when the Knights were in town for the Nine but it was extra special for the long-time fan. Not only did Kurt Gidley handover a new Knights jacket but Pauly traveled on the team bus to training on Thursday.

“I’m proud to be here and want to thank all the boys and the training staff for letting me come out and jump on the bus,” he beamed.

Pauly has high expectations for his Knights in the inaugural tournament and thinks the team has what it takes to dominate its pool.

“I’m confident the boys can do a job on the Sharks,” he said on Thursday.

“If we beat the Sharks, I think we can top qualify that pool.”

Pauly said Tyrone Roberts and Jarrod Mullen were outstanding in 2013 on the back of the forwards that did all the work.

“Players like Beau Scott, Chris Houston and Robbie Rochow, so I’m proud of the forwards. They’ve set it up," he added.

“If the forwards do the job and the hard yards, I’m sure our backs are pretty potent."

He tips Jake Mamo will be a top performer in the Nines after a strong performance that featured a hat trick of tries in last week’s trial against the Goannas.
