The Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce the signing of Todd Lowrie to a one-year contract in season 2016.
Lowrie, who started his career with the Knights in 2003 and played 57 games before departing at the end of the 2006 season, will return to his hometown.
The former Scone junior is looking to end his career where it started and help the Knights’ young players develop in the NSW Cup team next season.
"Todd is a quality person and he will bring some much needed experience to our football club,” Director of Football Michael Hagan said.
“He is an experienced first grade player and he will be a great asset to the coaching staff and young players at our Club.”
The 32-year-old has played a total of 202 NRL games at the Knights, Parramatta Eels, New Zealand Warriors and the Brisbane Broncos in successful NRL career.
“I'm really excited to get the opportunity to play for the Knights again after spending a long time away,” Lowrie said.
“I'm proud to have grown up in the Hunter region and have always called it home.
“To be able to come home and represent the region in the best way possible by playing for the Knights, in front of my kids is something I have wanted to do for a long time.
“I see a successful period coming for the Club and I will be doing my best to play well and also help develop the young guys coming through.”
